Character Of The Issue – Requirements

Waterproofing systems for aging tiled roofs are crucial, as the natural materials, such as clay or concrete, deteriorate over time, compromising their capacity to repel water. This degradation can lead to moisture absorption, structural damage, and leaks. Older tiled roofs commonly face challenges with waterproofing due to the increasing porosity of the tiles, the degradation of the mortar that binds them, and the failure of the underlying underlayment.

Therefore, it is essential to implement solutions that are seamless and provide a sustainable barrier against water infiltration.

SOLUTION

Widely recognized as the leading solution for aging roof tiles, this product showcases remarkable flexibility and superior crack-bridging capabilities, effectively sealing minor fissures as they shift. Additionally, it offers excellent resistance to standing water. To meet the demand for an optimal adhesion with a smooth surface, PC-WC Experts provides a premium polyurethane waterproofing membrane that is both flexible and seamless.

Waterproofing with PC-Sealcoat® PU 80

Preparation of the substrate

Thoroughly clean the existing tiles to ensure a clean, dry substrate. Inspect the membrane for any signs of damage, such as blisters, tears, or detached sections, and make the necessary repairs. Apply PC-Prime® DLS using a brush, roller, or airless spray.

Application of the product

PC-Sealcoat® PU 80 should be applied using a long-haired roller, brush, or airless spray in two uniform coats, each achieving a dry thickness of approximately 0.4 to 0.5 mm. It is essential to allow the first coat to dry completely before proceeding with the application of the second coat, which should be applied in a criss-cross pattern relative to the first. The total dry thickness of PC-Sealcoat® PU 80 must not be less than 0.8 to 1 mm, with a consumption rate of approximately 0.5 kg/m² for smooth membranes and around 0.9 kg/m² for slate-chip membranes.
